Kintetsu World Express South Africa (PTY) Ltd. ("KWE (South Africa)", President: Arend Jacobus du Preez), a locally registered company within our group, has been presented with the Silver Award at the "Logistics Achievers Awards" (LAA).
The LAA hosted by the South African logistics industry magazine ("Logistics News"), honor a select few companies that in a variety of industries and fields engage in freight distribution. At the LAA this year, over 500 companies were nominated. The judging panel is comprised of representatives from a number of freight distribution associations who, after visiting the facilities nominated for an award and hearing their presentations, determines the platinum, gold, silver and bronze awards. Since winning the platinum award in 2005, this is the second time that KWE (South Africa) has been honored. We are particularly proud that since their inception KWE (South Africa) is the only Japanese based freight forwarder to achieve this award.
Since the establishment of KWE (South Africa) in 1997, business sites have been established in Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. Five of these six business sites include warehousing facilities with a total floor area of 34,800m2. Dealing mainly with automotive, home appliance and construction machinery related cargo, KWE (South Africa) provides not only transport and customs clearance services but a full-range of freight logistics, including inventory control at the own warehouses. This makes KWE (South Africa) the "Only Japanese based freight forwarder able to provide total distribution services." While there are still many challenges confronting domestic freight distribution within South Africa, we remain committed to providing a high quality service that is able to fully satisfy our customers' needs.
In addition, based upon the success of KWE (South Africa), the KWE group is implementing business expansion strategies to extend our operations into other regions south of the Sahara desert. KWE is not only committed to the establishment of an East African distribution network centering on its key business site in Kenya, but also to Africa wide expansion given these countries huge growth potential.
