On June 26, 2009 Kintetsu World Express (Taiwan), Inc. ("KWE (Taiwan)"), a locally registered company within the KWE group, became the first Japanese based forwarder to acquire an ILC license, a type of bonded warehouse license, for a portion of its wholly owned warehouse in Taoyuan.

Acquisition of this ILC license ensures the following operational advantages.

  1. Increase in the percentage of cargo with pre-approved customs clearance. (Pre-approved percentage 95%)
  2. Ability to provide a consolidated end of month declaration. (For bonded cargo)
  3. Ability to perform stock operations under a non-resident's name.
  4. Where distribution through the ILC satisfies the industry promotion regulations stipulated by the concerned Taiwanese authority, it is exempt from commercial enterprise income tax.

Through acquisition of this ILC license, in addition to achieving reductions in lead times and customs clearance costs, KWE (Taiwan) is also aiming to provide a range of distribution services utilizing the special characteristics of a licensed ILS.
