KWE(HK) Acquires Labor Safety Health Management System OHSAS18001 (2007) Certification 2009/03/27

Kintetsu World Express (HK) Ltd., a locally registered company within the KWE group ("KWE(HK)") on March 3, 2009 acquired "OHSAS18001 (2007)" certification.

OHSAS (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) is a labor safety and health certification standard established for the purpose of identifying potential hazards, assessing resultant risks, preparing response strategies and clarifying responsible offices and departments. Through the appropriate analysis and management of risks related to the labor safety and health of all employees, stakeholders, customers and vendors in their daily operations and ongoing improvements in labor safety and health management systems, it aims to minimize the possibility of industrial accidents occurring and the associated business risks.

Introduction of the OHSAS18001, minimizes the risks of industrial accidents, increases employees' satisfaction and motivation levels, makes possible the creation of a favorable workplace environment and is also linked to realizing sound organizational management as well as obtaining public trust.

KWE(HK) commenced preparations to acquire this certification from the second half of 2007. Through making adjustments from various perspectives including evaluation standards, the operational and workplace environments of offices and departments subject to evaluation, KWE(HK) was able to acquire this certification. During the certification process the resolution of minor differences in interpretation between the external auditors and each of the concerned offices and departments required additional time meaning one and half years was required to acquire certification.

At present the only forwarder within Hong Kong that has acquired all ISO9000, ISO14000, TAPA and OHSAS18001 certifications is KWE(HK).

KWE(HK) will continue to strive to improve the quality of its services which in turn is linked to further expansion of sales.
