BKWE (China) Establishes its Own Beijing Railway Cargo Terminal Office in Beijing Station
2006/10/17
Beijing Kintetsu World Express Co., Ltd. ("BKWE"), one of the registered Chinese companies in the Kintetsu World Express, Inc. ("KWE") group, has established its own "Beijing Railway Cargo Terminal Office" within Beijing Station to strengthen its rail transport operations in China. This office commenced business on Monday, 16 October.
To serve a major U.S. printer maker that supplies products manufactured at its Shanghai plant throughout China, BKWE has been providing transport services to northern China since August this year. BKWE since the commencement of these activities has been providing a comprehensive freight transport service that, based upon delivery time constraints and the amount of freight, uses overland, air and also rail transport to deliver a wide range of products including printers, consumables, PCs, servers and peripherals.
Given the particularly high demand for cargo delivery to northern China from Shanghai via Beijing, BKWE has established rail services that are able to transport 300m2 of cargo by rail between Shanghai and Beijing daily. While in the past the off-loading of freight from trains onto trucks has been performed using 6 people on a rotating shift system, taking into account operational efficiency and the future predicted increase in the number of personnel required, it was decided to secure our Company's own goods handling space and to establish our own office within Beijing Station. In the immediate future this office will employ 2 full-time administrative staff and between 5 and 10 full-time freight handlers.
Every year as corporations with manufacturing bases in China strive to increase domestic sales, the need for a comprehensive logistics service that encompasses all facets of the domestic supply chain, including cargo tracing, vehicle dispatch management, warehousing control, information management and quality control has also been increasing. Further, while traditionally these manufacturers have used multiple logistics and transportation companies according to expertise, in recent times there have been growing demands for a "One-Stop Service Provider that, as a single company, is able to fulfill all these requirements.
To date KWE has established 10 companies within China of which BKWE is one. KWE has also constructed a comprehensive operations network that serves the entire country and currently includes a fleet of 630 vehicles either owned or under contract (72% with GPS) and 104 business sites, including the Beijing Railway Cargo Terminal Office. However, based on our policy of always striving to improve service quality, KWE will continue to establish new business sites within China including the planned Shanghai railway office.
