What is TAPA?

TAPA is the acronym for the "Transported Asset Protection Association", an NPO that was initially established in the U.S. in 1997 by manufacturers of high-tech equipment and the freight forwarding transporting and consulting companies involved in that industry. Presently, TAPA has offices in the U.S., Europe and Asia which are staffed by volunteers provided by corporations who are members of the association.

Purpose

The purpose of TAPA is to prevent major financial losses from acts such as the theft or similar of high-tech products in storage or during transportation. Particularly, TAPA provides the necessary organizational base vital for airfreight forwarders, logistics companies and other parties within the industry to prevent the theft or similar of high-added value products. In accordance with its stated purpose, TAPA performs activities such as information exchange related to losses from theft or similar, considers prevention measures in respect of the same and sets forth handling standards for transport and storage. At present TAPA has also established headquarters in Europe (Est. 1999) and Asia (Est. 2000).
